Pharmacy 340B Technician & Analyst

Super Opportunity!!  New position within the hospital district!!

Under the direction of the 340B Compliance Officer, this position oversees the day-to-day operations, compliance monitoring, and auditing of the 340B drug purchasing program.  Collaborates with the Pharmacy Manager and Purchasing Manager to ensure pharmaceutical orders are consistent with the inventory split billing software reports and there are no group purchasing exclusion violations.  Audits the 340B usage to determine usage is compliant as per the 340B regulations.  Audits to ensure prevention of duplicate discounts or diversion to ineligible patients.  Ensures records, policies, and documentation for the 340B program are thorough and accurate.

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Maintains knowledge of, and ensures compliance with all HRSA Office and Pharmacy Affairs regulations related to the 340B drug purchase program.

  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.

  • Reviews and monitors utilization records, 340B purchasing accounts, and contract pharmacy usage to ensure software and tools are working properly and accurately.

  • Monitors and coordinates purchasing records for each cost center where the 340B accounts apply to ensure the GPO exclusion rule is followed, WAC purchases are minimized when allowable, and updates the split billing software company with any direct purchase data.

  • Performs audits and internal and external compliance assessments to validate processes and communicates results to the 340B Compliance Officer and the Chief Financial Officer.

  • Performs audits to ensure split billing software accumulators are accurate on an NDC level.

  • Performs audits on the contract pharmacies to ensure compliance with regulations.

  • Performs physical inventory as needed to verify the drug accumulations and/or NDC's.

  • Partners with pharmacy, IS, and PFS departments to ensure NDC's are current in the hospital software as well as the split billing software.

  • Partners with IS and PFS departments to ensure claims are going out with the correct modifiers and claim data.

  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures for the 240B program and maintains them on an ongoing basis.

  • Reports any exceptions or discrepancies to the 340B Compliance Officer and the Chief Financial Officer.

  • Educates others regarding policies and ensures internal compliance with them.

  • Collaborates with pharmacy and finance staff to monitor changes that could affect 340B qualifications and helps ensure the program is fully implemented.

  • Develops and reports monthly and annually on 340B participation which clearly documents utilization, savings, and any problem areas.

  • Participates in the analysis and interpretation of 340B pricing trends.

  • Prepares program content and presents information related to the 340B program as requested.

  • Effectively communicates to wholesalers, pharmacists, leaders, and others as needed.

Minimum Education:

High school graduate or equivalent required

AA degree required

Minimum Experience/Skills:

One year of hospital pharmacy experience

340B experience highly desired

Ability to quickly master new software

Expertise with MS Office

Excellent analytical skills including the ability to identify issues, obtain relevant information, relate and compare data from different sources, and identify alternative solutions

Excellent organizational skills

Ability to create and maintain policies and procedures

Ability to work and interact with multiple stakeholders

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
