The Support Services Specialist provides support to the court for property accountability/control, space management, contracts, telecommunications, health/safety, security issues and records maintenance.
This is a Competitive Service position; additional positions maybe filled from this announcement within 90 days of certificate issuance.

Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Planning and coordinating a variety of service functions associated with the orderly and efficient operation of an immigration court.
Providing technical assistance to the Court Administrator (CA) and Immigration Court staff in the areas of procurement, supply management, equipment maintenance, contracts, property management and records storage and disposal.
Coordinating various aspects of procurement, supply management, equipment maintenance, contracts, and property management.
Providing guidance for various automated databases, to include but not limited to, payroll, personnel, financial management and travel.
Coordinating various Human Resources activities.
Travel Required
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This announcement is open to current career/career-conditional employees of the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) in the competitive service. Applicants MUST submit their recent SF-50(s) reflecting this status.
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants having held a GS position in the past 52 weeks must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements.One year at the GS-7 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-9 grade level. One year at the GS-9 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 grade level. (Please submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No Award or General Adjustment SF-50's will be accepted).
In order to qualify for the Support Services Specialist position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
GS-09
Specialized Experience: at least one year of full-time (12-months) specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service that included the following: 1) assisting with a variety of service office functions (i.e., procurement, supply management, equipment maintenance, contracts, property management and records storage and disposal) associated with the operation of a court; 2) identifying and resolving problems that require coordination and integration with various departments; 3) researching and analyzing support services actions, as well as procedural or policy matters; 4) processing personnel actions; and 5) operating automated systems to utilize software programs for tracking purposes.

OR
Education: possess a Master or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in business, accounting, finance, or other closely related field. (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts for verification.)
OR
Combination: an appropriate combination of successfully completed graduate level education and experience. To determine your combination, first compute your experience as a percentage of the experience listed above; then determine your education as a percentage of the education listed above; then add the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate education in excess of one full year (18 hours) may be used to qualify. (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts for verification.)
GS-11
Specialized Experience: at least one year of full-time (12-months) specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service that included the following: 1) analyzing and implementing purchase card policies and procedures related to the procurement of supplies, equipment, and contracting services; 2) processing travel arrangements that require authorizations, approval of vouchers, and compensatory time off calculations; 3) researching and implementing support service actions, as well as procedural or policy matters; 4) processing personnel actions; and 5) operating automated systems to utilize software programs for tracking purposes.

OR
Education: possess a PhD. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in business, accounting, finance, or other closely related field. (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts for verification.)
OR
Combination: an appropriate combination of successfully completed graduate level education and experience. To determine your combination, first compute your experience as a percentage of the experience listed above; then determine your education as a percentage of the education listed above; then add the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate education in excess of two full years (36 hours) may be used to qualify. (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts for verification.)

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
