Manager of Health Information Management

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position plans, organizes and manages the medical records, coding and transcription departments at Oak Valley Hospital District (OVHD); coordinates these functions with the needs of the hospital, the medical staff, hospital personnel, care center personnel and medical care professionals. Ensure effective operation of the department to meet accrediting, legal and hospital/care center standards. Coordinates activities to ensure completeness, accuracy, confidentiality, safekeeping and availability of health information. Understands and coordinates activities to ensure timely information flow for reimbursement programs and improving organization performance.


Minimum Education:


BA/BS or equivalent experience in Health Information Management


Minimum Experience/Skills:


Three (3) to five (5) years of acute care coding experience preferred


Two (2) to three (3) years’ progressively and successful management experience preferred


Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, medical record science, computer applications in medical records and current dynamics in the health care industry


Excellent analytical ability, communication and leadership skills


Capable of handling multiple tasks and is able to work well with constant interruptions and have strong organizational skills


Able to perform basic mathematical calculations


 


Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:


Associates Degree in Health Sciences or have credentials as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred


Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred


 


Physical Demands:


High level of energy required meeting deadlines, managing multiple projects and maintaining flexibility in responding to priorities/crises


Considerable sitting, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching


Lifts, positions, pushes up to 25 pounds


Manual dexterity and mobility


Ability to move quickly

A little about us, with 600 employees and in a growth mode, Oak Valley Hospital District is a full service, non-profit public hospital created to provide residents of Oakdale and the surrounding rural communities, with access to superior quality medical care. We also operate four community health centers providing primary care medical services and plan to expand this business as well. As an organization we take care of nearly 90,000 patients a year.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
