Job Duties and Qualifications:

Under general supervision and medical direction, performs laboratory test procedures in a manner that provides accurate, timely, and meaningful results.

Demonstrates the skill to appropriately utilized multiple computer systems and L.I.S.

Demonstrates good communication skills to ensure continuity of care as it pertains to laboratory testing, including relaying information to supervisor, relaying information between shifts, relaying information to the Supervisor and relaying of information between shifts.

Acts as a resource for orientation and training of new employees. Disseminates accurate and complete information.

Judiciously uses supplies and suggests cost saving measures. Ensures appropriate use of inventory and its management.

Evaluates QC results, singly and over time.

Accurately reports test results:

  • Evaluates sample quality

  • Correlates other significant data

  • Proper use of appropriate attachments, i.e., message codes, free test, replace a result, etc.


Position Qualifications:

BS/BA in chemical, physical, biological or laboratory science

One (1) year experience as a technologist in a laboratory is preferred

Able to perform basic mathematical calculations

Current CA license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking

Lifts, positions, pushes up to 50 pounds

Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching

Manual dexterity and mobility

Ability to move quickly

Ability to adjust vision sufficiently to perform duties

Regularly exposed to the risk of contagious and blood borne diseases

Subject to varying and unpredictable situations

Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness)

Emergency and crisis situations

Increased stress due to multiple calls and inquiries

Occasional exposure to radiation hazards, radioactive substances and biohazard material

A little about us, with 600 employees and in a growth mode, Oak Valley Hospital District is a full service, non-profit public hospital created to provide residents of Oakdale and the surrounding rural communities, with access to superior quality medical care. We also operate four community health centers providing primary care medical services and plan to expand this business as well. As an organization we take care of nearly 90,000 patients a year.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
