The Emergency Department Charge Nurse is a registered professional nurse who has demonstrated competency in the unit and is responsible for the delivery of patient care on a specific shift.
He/she shows evidence of knowledge of nursing theory, principles, and procedures, and demonstrates skill, good judgment, and good decision-making in applying these principles in the clinical setting.
He/she is responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care that is appropriate to patient age.
The Charge Nurse is responsible for linking nursing practice and quality improvement with nursing performance.
